Frost to Florals: A Dreamy Guide to the Winter-to-Spring Loungewear

Floral Pajama Long Sleeves Bodysuit / Pink

The worst of winter seems to be finally behind us. As the snow melts and flowers start to bloom, it feels like spring is on the horizon. There are many different ways to welcome the new season from decor, to accessories, to clothing. An elegant way to reflect spring outside is to bring it inside. Wearing spring-inspired loungewear is a wonderful way to remind ourselves that winter is almost over. Say farewell to fuzzy socks and flannels, say hello to flowy nightgowns and silk shorts! This will be our guide on how to style dreamy winter-to-spring loungewear and how you can look and feel like spring is finally here.

1. Change of Fabrics in Loungewear

Switching fabrics is one of the most important aspects of transitioning from season to season in loungewear. It’s easy to overheat wearing clothing that is designed to keep you warm in already mild temperatures. Making the change from winter fabrics to spring fabrics is important to our spring loungewear wardrobe. Below are some examples of spring-friendly fabrics for loungewear.

  • Satin. Satin is a beautiful fabric that feels as smooth as it looks. It will keep you comfortable in the warmer months and looks elegant and dreamy.

  • Silk. Silk is similar to satin, however silk is more breathable and airy compared to satin. It has proven temperature-regulating properties.

  • Chiffon. This fabric has an almost sheer look to it and is actually made from silk. It is lighter and more delicate while still having durability that will stand the test of time.

2. Spring Silhouette

Another way we can differentiate our loungewear from winter to spring is through the silhouette. Winter silhouettes in loungewear tend to be more structured and form fitting so as to preserve body heat. They also tend to have more layers and cover more of the body to stay nice and toasty. In the warmer months, we don’t need to focus so much on staying warm. Using spring silhouettes is a lovely way to welcome warmer weather in loungewear. These can include:

  • Babydoll. A baby doll silhouette, most recently seen and gained popularity through Sabrina Carpenter’s tour looks, is a cute and fun way to adapt to spring in your loungewear.

  • Flowy Bottoms and Skirts. As opposed to the tighter silhouettes of winter, pairing a cute bralette with flowy shorts, pants, or skirts is a stunning way to change your look.

  • Short Robes. Compared to a winter robe that might be heavy and long, a spring robe that hits mid-thigh is a dreamy way to embrace the warmer weather.

3. Spring Color Palette

Coloring is so important when changing from season to season, loungewear included. It can set the vibe and tone for any look right off the bat. Winter palettes typically include deep or icy blues, rich burgundy or scarlet, plums, and forest greens. Below are some colors that you can add into your loungewear this spring.

  • Pink. Bringing in the color of the flowers outside is a sure-fire way to add a touch of spring into our loungewear. From the pinks of roses to the pinks of cherry blossoms, pink is the color of spring.

  • Yellow. Save the super bright side of the spectrum for summer, spring should focus on a softer, pastel yellow. The color should emulate the color of soft sunlight or the center of a budding flower.

  • Blue. The difference between winter blues and spring blues is important to note. A spring blue should either be pastel and light like the color of a clear sky, or brighter like robin egg blue.

4. Spring Patterns for Loungewear

Changing the pattern of our loungewear is an easy way to go from winter to spring. In winter, the patterns may consist of snowflakes, evergreen trees, or plaid. In spring, it’s time to let go of those patterns and use new ones in new loungewear.

  • Florals. Florals are important when wanting to bring a spring-vibe to a look. When we think of spring, we think of all of the new flowers that are blooming. By using florals in your look, you can look and feel as dreamy as a flower.

  • Fauna. Spring is also the time for rebirth and new life. It is the time of year when babies of every species are typically being born or when a lot of animals come out of hibernation. Use a pattern of a bird or a bunny to get that whimsical spring look in your loungewear.

  • Swirls. Try to avoid harsh lines in any patterns on your loungewear and instead focus on patterns of swirls to make your look feel more like a spring vibe.

Conclusion

Spring is almost here and we can welcome it by adding dreamy spring energy into our loungewear. We can do this through switching our fabrics from ones that are heavier like fleece and wool into lighter ones like silk, satin, and chiffon. Changing our silhouettes in loungewear can reflect the change of temperature outside from colder to warmer by using babydoll nightgowns, short robes, or flowy bottoms. Coloring is important to our loungewear as well. Using colors like floral pink, pastel yellow, and sky blue are perfect for spring. Patterns are the cherry-on-top for a spring visual. Using floral patterns, patterns of fauna, and swirl designs are a dreamy way to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring.
