Reading has so many benefits such as - mental stimulation, stress reduction, improved focus, relaxation, enhances imagination & creativity and so much more. Reading is also a great source of entertainment that doesn't involve any screens, which in today's society it is rare to find entertainment that doesn't include staring at your phone.
With the new year being here so many of us have set lots of different goals to improve our lifestyle and mental health, one of the most common goals that people set is to read more books! That can be difficult to get into if you don't already read a lot! But with the right setting and environment you can feel so much more motivated to sit down, get settled and enjoy a good book!
In this article we will give you inspo on how to create a relaxing space that will encourage focus so you can let all your problems fade away for a little while as you lose yourself in the pages! These ideas will also work great for an aesthetic, cozy place to study in if you’re a student! Plus at the end we will also recommend some of our favorite books from multiple different genres.
Create a book/reading nook
Reading nooks are little corners that are dedicated purely to reading and being cozy! Usually in a spot of your house that you already feel comfortable in and can find a few hours of peace and quiet in. Creating a reading nook can be so fun and fairly simple! All you need is a spot that you know you can sit comfortably in for a significant amount of time, whether that’s on a chair, sofa, bed, beanbag or even just on the floor. Next you’ll need some blankets and some pillows to keep warm and provide a soft surface to support yourself with. Optionally you might want to make a little snack box to keep nearby so you’ll have the ultimate relaxing experience ;)

Make your room your happy place
If you’re going to be spending a significant amount of time in a certain place it has to make you feel good or else you simply won't enjoy spending time there as much! Your bedroom should always be one of your main happy places but especially if you're planning on taking up a new or time consuming hobby there, such as reading! There are so many different ways you can transform your bedroom into a place that brings you joy, adding personal touches being the most effective in our opinion! You can make your room more you by putting up pictures of things you love! Such as your friends, pets, family and even your fave celebrities! You can also personalize your room by adding mix & match products so that you can include your favorite colors, fabrics and designs in the one place!

Ambient lighting
Light has such a massive impact on our mood, sunsets can chill us out, moonlight can make us feel powerful and daylight energizes us. So of course we had to add ambient lighting on this list, by turning on a soft and aesthetic lamp you can really transform the energy in a room. A simple light can really get you in the mood to settle down and read a good book or motivate you to do some studying with a main character feeling. You can get so many different forms of aesthetic lights such as desk lights, string lights, floor lamps and pretty over-head lights!
Create a reading den on your bed
As children I'm sure so many of us would create little ‘dens’ on our beds! A special and secluded little place that was just ours. It felt cozy and like we had just been transported into a different world! Which is exactly the vibe for reading. You can make your own bed-den by draping blankets over the top of your bed, do this by either using strong tape to attach the blankets to your wall or putting two chairs at either side of your bed and draping the blankets between them! Add lots of pillows and your favorite stuffed animals for the ultimate cozy and nostalgic feeling. Don't forget some lighting!

Set up the ultimate reading desk
If you already have a desk in your bedroom that you use for studying then why not make it multifunctional so you can also use it to relax and read! By day it's an energizing study space to get productive and by night it can be a cozy corner to drink some tea and get lost in the pages of your favorite novel! One of the most effective ways to make your desk perfect for both of these uses is organizing! Whatever your organizational preference is, it’s always best to keep your space free from clutter. This will make you feel more productive, relaxed, put together and can have a massive impact on your wellbeing!
