The Sunday Reset Routine That Makes Monday Less Terrible
Thank Goodness It’s “Sunday”
Not the phrase we’re often used to hearing, but maybe it’s the phrase we ought to start using more often. Let’s take a moment to be vulnerable and openly admit that no one really enjoys Mondays, and so we’ve framed Sundays as a sort of weekly buffer when we enjoy one last hurrah of relaxation before getting back to a long work-grind, but that doesn’t really make Mondays feel any less weird.
Maybe you left your room in a comfortable mess, with your blankets still bundled on the bed and pajamas thrown haphazardly aside, after all you have to get back to work so you don’t really have time to clean up your weekend “leftovers”. This is why we need to establish a Sunday Reset Routine, before our priorities shift to the week of work ahead, we should cap off the weekend on a fresh note, so our Mondays can feel like a genuinely fresh start.

Living Peacefully Through My Sunday Reset Routine
We can’t slow down time, but we can choose what we make of it. Sunday reset routines might just sound like a fancy phrase for doing chores on the weekend (which it kind of is), but it’s just another aspect of peaceful living. Life’s chaos cannot be avoided, but it can be controlled, even to the point that slow-living becomes the reality of your home life, guaranteed by routine.
A peaceful life isn’t found in the absence of struggle, but in the presence of actions that help refresh and sustain an intentional lifestyle. Take any one of these ideas as your first step towards a fresh tomorrow:
- Change your bedsheets
- Clean up your living space
- Prep tomorrow’s breakfast
- Perform an inventory check
- Do some laundry
- Pick-out tomorrow’s clothes
It only takes one good day to shift the tone for the rest of the week, so let’s make our Sundays one of those good ones by embracing an intentional Sunday Reset Routine to reassure our future selves not to worry about the days ahead “Cuz I got you, always.”

A Sunday Reset Routine: Who knows? It Could Be Good For You…
Let’s Plan A Morning
Reset on a Sunday, prepare for a Monday, and if we have a time plan for another 5 days. Your sunday reset routine may be a 1-day thing, but the benefits can perpetuate much farther than you anticipate.
Start your sunday with a lazy stroll throughout your home, and peek around your:
- Bedroom
- Closet
- Bathroom
- Living Area
- Kitchen
- Cabinets
Try to come up with at least 3 to 5 things you may need to “restock’ on, from clothes to groceries. You don’t necessarily have to restock today if you think supplies will last. And supposedly you’ll be out and about all week with plenty of chances to go shopping or hit up your local laundromat, but at the very least have a list of things to keep in mind.
Think of it like a scaled down version of writing down your week’s motivational goals in a journal, perfect for practicing resets. A sunday reset routine is for accomplishing “small tasks” which could help fulfill your bigger goals down the line.
Consider how hectic the start of your Monday would be if you hadn’t checked the day before if you’d have any coffee ready as you leave for work.
Do you really have time to wait in line at a coffee shop to get your Monday morning caffeine fix? While you're running late and it’s raining outside? Might as well call in sick.
Dramatic? Yes. Plausible? Absolutely. And hardly an ideal way to start the week.
So please double check your Living Room, Clothing Storage Bags, Kitchen, Cabinets, and anywhere you keep your usual necessities, the day before. Take note of your supply stock or concerning lack thereof; prepare accordingly, and you won’t be left running to work in the rain, wearing your last clean work shirt with no coffee to even get you through the morning.
Hungry?
Why not start planning breakfast? Breakfast always sounds like a good idea no matter what time of day it is. It's also a good motivator for your sunday reset routine.
And what’s more refreshing than thinking of your first warm meal of the day? Actually eating it, that’s what.
So, while scrolling the internet for tomorrow’s weather forecast; try to find a recipe for something good you can break your fast with. Maybe you’ll glance over your Ceramic Fruit Bowl and spot a couple of oranges left, then you’re hit with the sudden urge to practice your occasional baking prowess and try your hand at making orange muffins.
By the end of it you may even have breakfast ready for the next two days and for those random late-night cravings. Remember to grab a Cotton Towel to wipe and clean your makeshift breakfast bakery once you're done though. Won’t be the last thing you clean up during your sunday reset routine, but at least you can have a fresh bite of breakfast for this one.

Clean Clothes: An All-Sensory Freshness
As an adult I’m sure you have an established laundry routine to keep your clothes in order. And whether that involves doing it yourself or taking them to a laundromat I would like to invite you to try one of the most refreshing home tasks for your sunday reset routine, folding the laundry.
It can be a wonderfully relaxing sensory experience. The smell of freshly washed linens wafting through the air, each piece of clean fabric reminding you of the soft luxuries you’re grateful to hold and possess for your own comfort. And if you used a dryer or hot iron, you can even enjoy a fleeting sense of warmth as you tuck each bit of laundry into a neat fold ready for storage.
Putting away the laundry is a task that’s easy to feel a sense of accomplishment doing, because as you put clothes away you can immediately see how well-prepared your closet, and yourself are going to be for the upcoming week.

Your Bedroom Needs A Sunday Reset Routine
Refresh Your Starting Point
We’re all guilty of spending more time than we’re willing to admit just lying in bed over the weekend. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, you should get to rest when you can. But when you eventually do get up (whatever time that might be) try carving out a moment to clean 1 or 2 things before doing anything else, as a light start to your sunday reset routine.
Did you know? A lot of the facial acne you wake up to can actually be from the pillow. More specifically from the dust and dirt that your room accumulates over time which can find its way to your pillow.
On most days you just reset your bedroom for later, but let’s use our sunday reset routine to roll up our pajama sleeves, bust out our trusty cleaning towels, grab some fresh Vintage Inspired Floral Pillowcases, and go deeper into really taking care of cleaning our sleep space. Begin with anything, what’s important is that we get started somewhere.

Beddings need to be switched at least once a week, that’s just a fact of good living at this point, no way around it, but try to approach it with some whimsy. Ever Lasting offers Washed Cotton Bed Sheets in 15 beautiful pastel colors. It’s good to have some variety when you’re aiming to freshen up your space for a new week. It also helps keep your weeks from melding together.
I speak from experience when I say; a space that only ever looks the same as it’s always been, for multiple days in a row, can make every day feel endlessly repetitive. A sunday reset routine is meant to fight that kind of tedium, as it only threatens to eat away at your will to progress.
Take whatever small steps you can to give your bedroom some fresh life each week. It’s also a good way to project the productive energy you want out of the week onto your space, for your mind & body to respond to, similar to making a list of goals to achieve.

Dressed For A Slow Reset
There’s no wrong way to dress for a sunday reset routine, so long as you can move comfortably and clear your space properly, no one would judge if you decided you would work better wearing just a Lina Polka Dot Double Gauze Nightgown Dress.
Personally, I like to enjoy my sunday resets in a Quiet Evening Striped Robe Set & Fuzzy Slippers combo, because if I’m spending my Sunday putting laundry away, laying out fresh linens, wiping down dust, and fixing tomorrow’s essentials I’m going to do so at my own pace, Slow & Cozy.

Waking up to a new sunday reset routine...
Building Refreshing Cycles of Productivity and Wellness
A sunday reset routine is meant to help you accomplish small and productive tasks at your own pace. Not just because they need to be done in order to maintain your home, but more because it is a healthy and refreshing practice that helps you plan and jump start your week on a clean note.
Accomplishing small tasks also has a way of feeding your productive nature. You’ll feel less pressured to work towards completion and can better focus on actually acting. It’s a refreshing perspective to have when doing work, and a good reminder that not all tasks need to feel so draining.
Some can leave you feeling so much more motivated by the end of them, that you might even start adding other simple tasks to your sunday reset routine, as you continue to move about your home. Or since you find yourself with more motivation and time on your hands, you can finally try starting something new that you’ve always put off for one reason or another. Like reading a new book, re-watching your fav Netflix series, or trying out that new stuffed peppers recipe for tomorrow night’s dinner.
Afterall, it’s Sunday, you’ve got the time and you’ll definitely thank yourself later on for taking care of the small jobs around your home to help get things ready for the next few days, and more importantly for taking care of yourself.
