A Night of Relaxation: DIY Spa and Cozy Bedding Setup

After hours of standing on your aching feet or sitting at a desk with eyes glued to a monitor, we’ve all taken a moment to ask ourselves, “What is the best way to unwind and relax?” Most will give the answer, “Book an appointment at a spa!” However, not everyone can afford the expense that comes with a spa appointment or even be able to make time in their busy schedule to go to one. So, the next best option is to create a similar experience in the comfort of their own home. However, how do you begin to make your room feel like a spa? Some may start by getting a soothing face mask and placing a couple cucumbers on their eyes, but there is more you can do to create a space that mimics the ambiance of a spa. Here are some helpful tips on how to create a relaxing and cozy bedding set up so that you can experience the spa in your own home and on your schedule.

1: Choose the Right Clothing
A good place to start in creating a room that captures the feeling of being in a spa is to think about clothing. After checking in to your appointment, spas will generally give you a towel or a robe to change into. They’re comfortable, offer a bit of modesty, and to keep you dry. There are plenty of styles to choose from when looking for robes and towels, however I suggest soft colors that are easy on the eye like white or a pale green. To protect your feet from the floor, get soft slippers that match your robe or towel. Getting the right clothing puts you in the right mindset and will help create that spa atmosphere.

2: Create the Right Spa Atmosphere
Spas go out of their way to design an atmosphere that induces the maximum amount of relaxation in their patrons. The spa that I went to used a lot of greenery, sounds of running water, and soft lighting to turn of my brain and make sure I was feeling relaxed. You can create a similar feeling with a few easy steps.
- Put on some peaceful music: Quiet your thoughts with peaceful music. You can use Spotify or YouTube to search spa music playlists. If music is not your taste, I also suggest searching for sounds that come from nature. As an example, I personally love the sound of rain falling. The sound makes me think of staying inside and taking the day off for myself!
- Set the Right Mood with the Right Lighting: Having atmospheric lighting can make a room feel more relaxing. However, this is up to personal preference. Some may find a room that is bright and sunny more relaxing while other prefer to have their room more dim and atmospheric. Whatever relaxes you more is the correct choice.
- Surround Yourself with Peace: Spas curate their rooms to help sooth their patrons. Making your immediate environment a place of relaxation is important to keep in mind when designing your space. While what objects make you relax the most is up to your tastes, I suggest going with natural motifs. Things like succulents, candles, or flowers are a good place to start.

3: Nourish Yourself
A nice cup of your favorite drink is great for relaxation. Spas often offer complementary water to their customers, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick with that! A cup of hot tea, some fruit juice, or anything that you find refreshing will do as well. Have something to eat while your relaxing as well! A granola bar or some crackers are simple snacks you may have already in your home. However, if you want to indulge, chocolate is always a good idea to treat yourself with!

4: Wrap Yourself in Comfort
After taking a nice relaxing shower and changing into your robe, surround yourself in soft bedding while listening to relaxing music in the right lighting. Ever Lasting has several styles of soft bedding and blankets for you to unwind in. I suggest colors that are easier on the eye like beige, green, white, or blue. Want the ultimate feeling of relaxation? Get a super soft blanket to keep you warm!
