Building a Nighttime Routine with Sleepwear and Beddings
Do you ever catch yourself randomly daydreaming about what being back in bed will be like. There’s really nothing wrong with imagining yourself taking it easy, and to some it’s a pretty solid form of motivation, work hard to sleep hard. So, I can imagine how frustrating it must be for some people, who after all of that exhausting work, can’t actually get themselves to wind down and are kind of just stuck lying down staring at the ceiling.
Getting a good night’s sleep will take its own kind of work, and ironic as that might sound, trust us when we say there is a method to this contradictory statement. A proper nighttime routine is a perfect place to start the end of your day.

Better Nighttime Routine's Beget Better Sleep
I’m sure we all have things we like to do to get our bodies and faces feeling clean or refreshed before trying to sleep, and while that’s all well and good, the nighttime routine we encourage you to focus on is the one you make for your overall sleep experience. When you’re told to make your bed in the morning that usually just means clearing the sheets and fixing the blankets and at nighttime the bed is clean, but is it 'made'?
Take the time to look at your bedroom and consider its content, and if everything is set up for the best sleep.
- Do you need a different set of bedsheets as the season and temperature at night changes?
- Do you have pajamas that feel soft on your skin to keep your body cozy throughout the night?
- Do the colors and patterns on your bed really evoke a sense of peace?
If your nighttime routine is all about getting yourself ready for bed, you should definitely make the whole bedroom a part of said routine.

Getting Your Bed In Order
Your Bedding’s Nighttime Routine
No matter how frequently you do the laundry, changing the beddings at least once a week is a good practice to stay on top of. Personally, I like to switch mine out on a Sunday, so I can always start my week with a fresh set to sleep on. Not a bad way to start the week, really. Making it a part of your nighttime routine, as you’re about to sleep, can also encourage more intention behind the sheets and blankets you choose for a good night’s rest.
Picking the right beddings is like setting the mood for the rest of your nights, making sure they all follow through with the same level of comfort each night until the next switch. Take the time in between as an opportunity to plan out the weekly nighttime routine, create a rotation that can help narrow down your bedding options to better elevate and match your idea of cozy week after week.
Now admittedly not all nights will be the same and sometimes the nighttime routine itself will have to shift accordingly.
Nights can change as quickly as the weather, so while it’s relatively warm this week, next week may bring a sudden chill, and on those nights some additional bedding decisions will have to be made.
For instance, our cotton sheets are usually good for keeping cool which is why you opted to use them this week, but you heard things could get chilly from Wednesday onwards, so mid-week you can make the switch to our Velvet Fitted Sheets. Or to make things easier you can just add more layers like a Wool Blanket, maybe even switch to a duvet to help retain more warmth.
Check out our Seasonal Collection, which is always being updated with the best beddings to keep you cozy throughout the year.
Your nighttime routine should include taking into account what the night may bring to ensure your bed is properly set-up and adapted to provide a peaceful and specific coziness for the night ahead.

Your Bed’s Silent Language
Aesthetically designed patterns can help speak of a person’s personality, but if the intention is to evoke peace rather than character, a milder pattern with simpler structure may be prudent for your nighttime routine. Stripes for example have a simple point to point design that puts the mind at ease. I believe it’s the thin structure of the stripes that helps soften an otherwise boldly colored room. Like it’s giving your mind a patterned space to focus on and settle down in.
Colors are another consideration; it’s not just about picking the colors you like; you should look into layering your bed with colors that help calm the mind.
- Softer Shades
- Earth Tones
- Light Pastels
- Neutral Beiges
Incorporating these kinds of palettes in your room's nighttime routine creates subtle visual cues to help distinguish the busy world outside, to the calm curated space of your bedroom.

The idea behind setting up your bed as part of your nighttime routine is that you make intentional decisions to support better sleep throughout the night. So long as you keep that in mind, you’re well on your way to building a calming bedtime ritual that works to ensure your peace of mind and body every night.
Look at your current set up and consider what you should prioritize, is it different sheets, more blankets, maybe a pair of new pajamas? It may be a lot to consider but the proper rest it could ensure is well-worth the effort.

Bed and Body: The Dream Team
Multi-faceted Sleepwear
I imagine one of the first things we do after getting home is kicking off our shoes and changing out of our work clothes to slip into something, literally anything, more comfortable. So, a wardrobe change is a staple for any nighttime routine.
Maybe you wear very business-forward and perhaps slightly stuffy clothes to work, or maybe you just like to get cozy. Regardless of your reasoning we can all agree that at the end of the day we want to feel at home, and nothing says that better than being able to lounge around as your comfiest self.
You usually only have a few hours before it’s time to head to bed, so why not just jump straight into those pajamas? Ever Lasting has designs that range from big and flowy, like our Vintage Inspired Plaid Pajama Dress, to structured and simple, like the Blush Mist Cotton Pajama Set, so we can be sure you find something to suit your lounging needs.
As much as we invite you to relax at home, we’re also aware that some people include doing chores as part of their nighttime routine. Whether it’s fixing dinner, cleaning the dishes, or throwing a new week’s worth of dirty laundry into the washing machine, you can’t help that the house needs taking care of.
But luckily, you won’t have to wait 'til you’re done with those chores to get comfortable, because our pajamas are made with durability in mind. They are designed to last through multiple seasons and wears. Easily switch from doing your home routine to your bedroom nighttime routine by donning a pair of pajamas that are structured well enough for you to both relax and work in them.
Who wouldn’t want to be dressed cozy while sweeping the floors? You might even think of those chores less as work, and more as a part of your nighttime routine. Just another part of how you get the rest of your space clear and ready for bed.

Cozy working is easy working
Step Into Comfort
Slippers, like our Thin Striped House Slippers, aren’t just a way to keep your feet clean, they're a nighttime routine staple of comfort for your feet. Don’t settle for wandering your room barefoot, getting cozy isn’t limited to when you slip into your bed sheets.
Just like when you put on your pajamas, stepping into a cozy pair of slippers is a signal to your brain that even as you stand it’s time to get comfortable. It’s like when you step in through the threshold of your front door into your home. You’re leaving the way you rush with the world behind for the night, and you’re stepping into your own comfortable pace.
Your home is a place for rest and recovery, so don’t treat it the same way you would your workplace or the world outside. At home you can better control the space around you, and more importantly, how you live in it.
So, what if you still have some things to do around the house, you have the opportunity to be comfortable while you finish them. You could be in your pajamas or a lounge robe and there would be nothing wrong with that. It’s liberating, and more importantly it puts you in a more relaxed state of mind that helps set the stage for the rest of your nighttime routine as you retreat to bed.

Walking on cloud nine
Conclusion
A sense of calm and ease is brought on by a mix of room elements and the intentions you carry with them. The way you choose to live in a space can go on to affect how you feel, and how you rest, and how you recover.
Your mind and body work in tandem day in and day out, and how they recover must follow the same effort. You can’t lie in bed and tell your body to be at ease and fall asleep if your mind is still busy. It’s why some people can still feel tired despite getting some sleep. An effective nighttime routine is one that prioritizes comfort for your peace of mind.
You shouldn’t brute force your way to sleep. If you plan your bedtime ritual well-enough you could be well on your way to falling asleep the minute you came back home and slipped into your cozy pajamas, or while you were still making sure your home and your bedroom were clear for the night, and while you were still layering on your bedsheets and blankets before finally turning off the lights and closing your eyes.
Using a nighttime routine can help better your chances of being able to settle in for the night by approaching the goal of rest with more structure and intention. The night may end with you in bed, but the building and planning for sleep can start before you even enter the room, and it’s that kind of foresight that helps your nighttime routine ensure consistently better sleep.
