The Clean Mindset Shift: Embracing Minimalism and Letting Go

Decluttering starts with a mental commitment to let go of unnecessary items. In this case, if you believe that you do not have a ton of stuff, maybe itâs time to take a step back and first admit you have a problem. If you want to become stress-free the first step to achieving this is to start in our own homes. I personally canât get anything done unless my workspace and room is clean and clutter- free. When I was younger, I used to think more was better. Now that Iâve grown older I realized I actually donât need as much stuff as I thought. Minimalism is definitely the way to go if you want to get any work done. Itâs also the only way you can focus on your goals without feeling overwhelmed .
How To Achieve the Clean-Girl Mindset:
Ask yourself, âDo I love it? Do I use it?â when deciding what to keep. If itâs easier, you can create two piles of what you would want to keep and not keep, and a âmaybeâ pile, just in case there are things who are not too sure about letting go. At the end of your pile, you can go through that pile and start making the hard decisions.
Focus on quality over quantity when it comes to belongings. Yes, of course we all want to keep all of our Sonny babies, but is it really necessary? Try donating any of those copies to someone who would better appreciate them and just keep maybe two or three that mean the most to you. Remember, clean-girl's do not  keep junk.Â
Set realistic goals , starting small to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Rome was not built in a day. If you feel like tackling a whole room is too overwhelming. Try starting with a section of a room a day. Before you know it without realizing it, youâll be done with your entire house by the end of the week. Thatâs probably more progress than you ever thought you could do.

Mastering the Art of Sorting: The Keep, Donate, and Toss Method

This classic cleaning method helps you systematically tackle clutter. Whether we notice it or not our brain loves to decompartmentalize . When we put things in sections in our brain itâs a lot easier for us to tackle and we hardly notice all the work we get done. Time suddenly starts to fly by. You can start to choose places youâd like to donate your unwanted items and set a date on which youâll drop them off to give yourself a time frame on when to finish your task.
Your Go-To Sorting Method:
Label three boxes: Keep, Donate, and Toss. This method will become your best friend in any situation. You can even use this method when going through your camera roll, or emails. My favorite thing to do is help others clean their spaces. It makes me feel like I am a part of something bigger than myself.
Be honest about items you havenât used in a year or more. This might be hard to do with things that are sentimental but if you havenât used three out of the five blankets that your boyfriend gave you, think about how someone else can benefit from a nice free cozy blanket.
Research local donation centers for easy drop-offs. Anything from toys, clothes, and antiques can be dropped off at local thrift stores. One of my favorite spots to drop off cozy blankets or pillows are animal shelters.Â

Streamlining Your Wardrobe: Building a Clean Capsule Closet

Are you tired of constantly rummaging through your wardrobe only to end the fight with, âI have nothing to wear â. Yes girl, I have been there plenty of times. A simplified wardrobe reduces decision fatigue and maximizes space. There are probably tons of clothes anyways that you would not even dare to wear again or that probably do not fit. In this case, by going through your wardrobe and deciding on what you want to keep and sticking to a style that is versatile will help you plan for future run-ins such as this.
Tips for a Clean-Girl Wardrobe:
Donate clothes that no longer fit or suit your style . I found it easiest when I took a step back from wardrobe and realized most of what I had was either not my style anymore or were items that just didnât match with each other. What I decided to do was keep my clothes that all matched my style and were in the same color family I tend to always wear. With the occasional exceptions.
Invest in versatile, high-quality staples for mix-and-match outfits. When I decided that my wardrobe was best suited when I chose quality over quantity, my entire life shifted. This also ensured that I look and feel my best all year round. Instead of the seasonal cleaning routine.
Making sure you get the most of your space in your closet is crucial. You have to be able to see all your options without having other pieces of clothing get in the way. Use slim hangers and drawer organizers for efficient storage. Use pants organizers or over the closet shoe racks for more organization.Â

Cleaning Your Bathroom: Simplify Your Self-Care Routine

I know my favorite spot in my house is where I do my skin care routine, and face make up. Keep your bathroom clean and serene by reducing unnecessary items . if you have a clean bathroom or space where you do your skin care routine minimizes the stress of getting ready. My guilty pleasure has always been bathroom organization videos. It's so easy nowadays with access to organization, friendly ways to come right to your door.
Tips to a Clean Bathroom:
Set a date to go through all your products. Discard expired beauty products and toiletries. Itâs so important to make sure not to use any expired products that can be detrimental to your skin. You never want to use a product and chance that you wonât get an allergic reaction just for a day of full glam.
Use drawer dividers or baskets to organize makeup and skincare. You can find inspiration from Tik Tok or Pinterest on how to set up your drawers for the best fit to your needs. Clean-Tok can easily become your new obsession.Â
Install shelves or cabinets to keep surfaces clutter-free. Most people forget about how much space they can free up when they use the space on their walls or cabinets. Itâs all about how you use your space at the end of the day.

Transforming Your Living Room into a Clean Girly Haven

The most important room in any house is where you host your guests. The living room is the heart of any home. So, that is why it is crucial that your living room is built for functionality. The living room should be welcoming and organized for relaxation. It can get pretty overwhelming to say the least when you come home to a disorganized living room. Minimalism is the key to a functioning living room for any size family. You can always accessorize with wall art and cute coffee table accessories.
Tips to a Clean Living Room:
Honestly, when your surfaces are clean, half the problem is already gone. Declutter surfaces like coffee tables and bookshelves. Go through them rather than trying to just stuff things in places they do not belong to prevent further disorganization.
Use storage ottomans or baskets to hide toys, remotes, or blankets. Before we bought our new couch in my house, I had to make sure that there was space underneath the couch to have easy access to pillows and blankets for movie nights and guests.
Keep décor minimal to avoid visual clutter. You can still add your own personal flair to your space without having too much. Too many things can lead to your space looking cluttered. Try grabbing accent pieces instead of too many little things.

Creating Habits for Long-Term Organization Success

Maintaining an organized home requires consistent effort and small daily habits. It can feel as though you have too much to tackle when you have to clean so much every so often. With daily maintenance you can minimize the cleaning and stress.Â
đĄ Pro tip: tidy your entryways to set the tone for your home and ensure stress-free mornings. Efficient use of space is crucial for small homes or apartments. You can use small bins and cute organization bins for your entry way.
Tips for Long Term Clean Success:
Spend 10 minutes each day tidying up high-traffic areas. Over time you will feel less stressed out when you find that most of your space is already clean and out of mind. Utilize vertical space with wall-mounted shelves or hooks.
Implement a â one in, one outâ rule for new purchases. I personally love this rule. If]t really makes me think about all the stuff that I probably already have at home. Half the time when youâre shopping everything you want is a want, and not a need.
Schedule seasonal decluttering sessions to stay on top of clutter. If you live with others it's best to plan a day when you can get the whole family involved and make a day of it. My siblings and I tend to love cleaning together and it makes less work for all of us. Plus, it gets done a lot faster.Â
